WHO ARE WE
Study Hall Hoops brings an educational twist to youth basketball training. In the same way that academic tutoring maximizes success in the classroom, our program is designed to complement your child’s existing team activities with basketball tutoring that maximizes success on the court. In other words, while team practices and games serve as standard “classroom” time, Study Hall Hoops serves as extra-curricular “study hall” time; where each student-athlete gets the tutoring they need to maximize their shine when it’s game time.
Study Hall Hoops is designed with the concept of continuous improvement in mind, where the stated and reinforced mission statement is: “Be better today than you were yesterday.” Our objective is to help young athletes develop fundamental skills, build confidence, and foster a love for the game of basketball. Whether your child is a beginner (looking to learn the fundamentals) or an experienced player (looking to refine existing skills), our program is designed to meet them where they are and help them reach their full potential.
OUR PROGRAM
Study Hall Hoops provides a uniquely structured weekend program, designed specifically to complement the existing obligations of one or more team(s).
Friday Night Open Runs:
Semi-structured high-volume gameplay sessions, where players compete against each other in a supervised environment. These sessions are intended to provide low-pressure scenarios; which encourages players to explore their limits and experiment outside their comfort zone. Gameplay is stopped periodically for instructional purposes. Teams are formed to optimize overall competitiveness meaning players are grouped by ability, age, and grade level (in this order).
Saturday Night Clinics:
Skills Combine: Iterative individualized skills competition; which includes 3-point shooting, free throw shooting, sprinting, passing, jumping, and dribbling. Each time a player completes the circuit of events their results are captured, trended, and analyzed to track individual progress. This data is used to build a player profile to determine relative strengths and weaknesses; which then helps target focus areas for strategic improvement.
Small Group Sparring: Dynamic environment where players engage in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 competitions. These small group formats allow players to explore difficult abstract concepts (i.e. ball spacing, offensive/defensive strategy, etc) in simplified scenarios. These sessions emphasize individualized feedback and allow athletes to apply their training in dynamic, real-time scenarios that translate directly to gameplay. Teams are formed to optimize overall competitiveness meaning players are grouped by ability, age, and grade level (in this order).
Sunday Night Shooting:
Dedicated session focused exclusively on shooting the basketball. Players work on perfecting shooting mechanics, building muscle memory, and getting shots up in large quantities. These sessions include both individual and group drills. Players are grouped by ability, age, and grade level (in this order).
